Facial volume
If an area has lost volume, I may use the patient's own fat to restore it subtly.
FACELIFT · GUADALAJARA, MEXICO
I use the extended SMAS lift technique during a facelift to reposition the deeper tissues of the cheeks, define the jawline, and treat the neck. When needed, I add fat to areas that have lost volume. The goal is a more rested appearance without changing recognizable facial features.

During your consultation, I assess cheek support, jawline definition, the neck, and the areas that have lost volume. Not every area needs treatment; some are better left untouched.
If an area has lost volume, I may use the patient's own fat to restore it subtly.
I assess how far the tissues of the cheeks and jawline have descended before deciding how much repositioning is appropriate.
I assess jawline definition and its continuity with the neck.
I evaluate skin, superficial and deep fat, and the platysma bands as part of the same plan.
TECHNIQUE, SAFETY, AND RECOVERY
During your consultation, I explain which of these steps your case requires and which it does not.
With the extended SMAS lift technique, I reposition the deeper support layer of the cheeks and jawline instead of relying only on skin tension.
When needed, I remove superficial and deep neck fat and bring the platysma together with internal sutures to improve the contour.
In many cases, I combine the facelift with neck liposuction and place fat in facial areas that have lost volume.
Incisions pass in front of, around, and behind the ear and continue into the hairline. Their exact design depends on the patient's anatomy and plan.
Surgery lasts approximately 3 hours. The anesthesiologist administers deep sedation and provides continuous monitoring; local anesthesia is also used in the surgical area. Patients usually do not feel or remember the procedure.
I prefer patients to stay one night at Hospital Innovare. Most return to office work in 1–2 weeks, and I recommend waiting 2 months before returning to exercise.

They are placed in front of the ear, around it, and behind it, continuing toward the hairline. In selected cases the design extends upward or along the hairline.
Plan on 1–2 weeks before returning to office work. Exercise usually resumes around 2 months.
I recommend staying 10–15 days so I can monitor the early recovery and complete the initial follow-up visits.
I see patients several times per week during the first 2 weeks, weekly during the next 2 weeks, and monthly after the first month.
My goal is to create a refreshed appearance without distorting the patient's individual features. I reposition deeper tissues and restore volume subtly while preserving facial identity.
